There are strict women, and then there is the woman who walks into a classroom already holding the pointer.
Clarissa Armstrong did not need a long briefing. Mortarboard, academic gown, pearls, green lace and a length of rattan — she understood the brief before I had finished setting the lights. The blackboard stayed blank on purpose. Nothing on it would have improved the picture.
This set was shot in a real classroom: old wooden desk, stacked textbooks, one red apple, and that particular institutional quiet you only get when the last lesson has gone and the cane has not been put away. Clarissa works the space like someone who has stood at the front of a room before. The gown is open. The lingerie is not an afterthought. The look to camera is the warning.
The pictures
In the first frame she raises the pointer as if the class has already gone quiet. Green lace bra and high-cut knickers, black stockings, strappy heels, pearls at the throat. One hand on her hip. The gown falls open and stays there.
Then the pointer comes down to her side. Same stare. Same classroom. She is not posing as a student. She is the woman who decides who bends over the desk.
Next she stands square to camera, both hands resting on the cane. Gown open, stockings straight, apple still on the desk. It is the “you know why you have been kept behind” picture.
She shifts her weight, cane in the right hand, left hand relaxed. The mortarboard stays on. The expression does not soften.
In the last frame the pointer is held out across the body — part lesson, part threat. Books stacked, apple in place, blackboard empty. If you came for extra tuition, this is what extra tuition looks like.
About the shoot
Clarissa is a natural for this kind of work: mature, composed, and quite happy to look a grown man in the eye while holding a cane. The green lingerie against the black gown was deliberate. Academic on the outside. Nothing academic underneath.
These images sit in the Strict Women gallery for a reason. They are not soft glamour with a prop. They are a headmistress who has already decided the punishment, photographed before the first stroke.
