I’ve never known a company change the rules and stitch up their sellers as much as eBay, they’re actually worse than Amazon if that’s possible.
As many of you know many years ago Teresa and I were selling her photos on eBay and were were told that we could sell topless and nude so long as they weren’t explicit and did not show genitals. All was good for a while then they started removing listings for nudity even though we had been told we could list them. Then the day came when they closed our account.
A couple of years back we began listing Teresa’s photos and complied with their rule of no topless or nude photos. After a while I started to see explicit nude photos and contacted eBay who told me that that you can list topless and nude but only in the category Collectables & Art > Art > Art Photographs. This I queried as the images certainly weren’t art but was abruptly told that who are eBay to say what is and what isn’t art. Strange but true.
So away I went, listing Teresa’s nude and topless photos alongside some of my own of other models that I’d taken over the years. All was good until a few days ago when we had two listings taken down and were given a violation on our account for ‘Morphing’ excuse me, photos of a celebrity. What’s morphing? Well I didn’t know either until last night with the help of Google. Obviously the photos weren’t morphed at all.
Today I spent almost an hour talking to an eBay representative on the phone and it transpires that eBay have yet again changed the rules regarding nudity insomuch as now photos that contain bare breasts or nudity must have it covered up, and not just covered up but you have to use a photo of a photo with coins or something tangible; you cannot enhance a digital picture with stars and the like. Have eBay contacted their sellers to let them know about the changes? Nope! they just remove your listings and give you multiple violations before eventually closing your account.
Because of this we have made the decision not to sell Teresa’s and my other topless and nude photos on eBay, they will only be available on my website https://cliffjamesphotography.com and on Teresa’s page https://teresa-may.com
What a way to run a business, shaft the sellers that are making you money!
